We Can All Do Better

Jan 14, 2013

Well today we get to start off with the story of Pedro. I told you that I baptized someone named janet back in october. Well Pedro is her brother. He has been going to church with her since September. He is a very busy guy. He works on Saturday nights untill 2 or 3 in the morning and still can make his way to church usually. But he had some problems with thinking about baptism. He was ready to be baptised back in Oct with his sister. But he didnt for a few reasons. ( stuff that he had held in for months without telling me why he didnt want to be baptised.) He drank coffee to stay up at work. He was confused about what we do in temples. He wasnt sure exactly who Joseph Smith was. So although he had been to church many times and knew the church was right he hadnt been baptized.

Well the week after new years we taught him better about temples. We watched the whole joseph smith movie with him and his family to help them understand more about who he was. And on saturday the 5th we challenged him to be baptised for saturday the 12th. He said he wasnt sure. We challenged him to pray. When we went to visit him on tuesday in this week I asked him if he had prayed. Instead of saying yes or no he just told me that he was getting baptized this saturday. He got his answer. He ended up getting baptized on sunday morning before church because he had to work on saturday. It was really cool working with him. He is 17. Im gonna tell him to prepare for a mission. Hopefuly I will get to see him next year again when his sister janet goes to the temple to be sealed.

Ive been studing the general conference talks from october. This week I read elder Ballards talk. He talked about being anxiously engaged in a good cause. Or the Bee talk. He made the point that there is something that every member of the church can do to make their lives better and help others in thier lives. From primary children to deacons to young women to missionaries to parents to bishops. If we sincerely ask for a chance to serve someone else in our prayers every morning, and we look with faith throught the day, the lord will provide for us an opprotunity to serve. It something Ive been doing this week. Its hard for me to notice with all of the wonderful chances that I have to serve daily as a missionary. But I urge you all to do what Elder Ballard taught. Read the talk. You can make a difference. Just like the honey bee that hardly makes anything. We are all working in the same cause here. Just in different countries. I love you all.

Love Elder Comstock
