More Missionairies

Feb. 24,2013
Grandma and Grandpa= Brother and Sister Jordan? that is great news. i am a little disapointed that they wont be home when I get home but a lot more excited to hear that. That will be exciting for them. I feel like Grandpa could possibly go back to euorpe like his air force days. Or maybe they stay in the states. If they are lucky they will come to the best mission in the world in Honduras Tegucigalpa!
This week we had a zone conference in Teguc. That was really good to hear from president and the Aps. They did a really good job with the conference and I had a good time that day. I was talking to Elder Araujo on the bus ride up to Teguc and he is my new freind from Brasil. He started teaching my some Portugese as well. It is a lot like spanish. It interestes me. And of course I saw Elder Oveson and Meyer at the conference. One of the difficult parts about the missoin is making tons of friends and not getting to see them very often.

We went to the Temple again on Friday. This time we went in the day. The Celestial room is so pretty in the day time because of the windows. The windows reflect the light to make rainbows on the floor. It was really cool.
Yesterday was stake conference. We had Elder Amado from the first quorom of the 70 in Danli. He spoke directly to me. I learned so much from his talk. I also learned that He was the mission president of President Hernandez. That was cool to learn. The Temple president also came to speak to us as well as President Hernadez and his wife. It was a great conference. The investigators liked it to. We have our first baptism for this area planned for next week and Im excited for him.

Thanks for Everything. I love you!

The Honduras Tegucigalpa Temple

Feb. 18, 2013

On Tuesday I had the grand oprotunity of going to the open house of the Honduras Tegucigalpa Temple. It was truly an amazing experience. The temple is so beautiful. Im sure you have seen the pictures. Inside it is equally beautiful. The spirit is there. You know how the temple is. It is the best. It was interesting going through with investigators and all of the invites that the ward has made because they dont all understand the importance of the temple. They all love it though. Last week our ward sent 9 buses and about 500 people to the temple. I went on tuesday and on friday. They will be sending more buses in the next two weeks. I will be going with them always when we have investigators.

On Wednesday we had a training meeting for my two companions. It was for all of the Elders that had come into the mission over the past 2 months and their companions. There were about 80 missionaries there. We have been growing as you can tell. It was good to hear from president Hernandez though.

Elder Flamenco is no longer with us though. On Friday morning we got the call that he would be going to another area in our zone because someone went home a month early. So I still see him in danli, but he isnt with us anymore. It is probably better that way. We had a good 10 days together though.

Valentines day was this week. You can look back at the pictures that I sent you of all of the good stuff I got for valentines day last year in the mtc. Letters from girls, candy and junk food from family and friends. The hearts from moms students. Everything. Well this valentines day I got one card from mom... Haha dont worry im not sad or anything. I thought it was funny how different it was. I know mom sent me something in the mail too. It just hasnt gotten here yet. Im not in Tegicugalpa anymore so the mail takes a little longer. Im not that concerened with mail anymore though. I havent written a letter in a month and I have recieved a ton. Im so behind.

Well I love you all. Have a wonderful week

Danli

Feb. 11, 2013

Well the last few days in the 30 were sad. I will always remember all of those people forever. A few days before the changes I asked the APs what my changes were going to be. They didnt want to tell me anything, but I got a little out of them. They told me I was going to be outside of Teguc and with 2 latin missionarys in a trio. I didnt believe them because It sounded like a lie. But sure enought when Elder Reyes called me with my changes he told me I would be training 2 latins and opening and area in la zona Danli. I was shocked!

So I went to the trainer meeting on Wednesday morning to see who my companions were going to be. President then anounced, "Elder Comstock, sus compaƱeros son Elder Lopez y Elder Flamenco." I went and hugged them and we sat back down. Everyone was a little suprised because it is not very common that someone trains 2 people at once, and opening a new area.. I had only heard of 1 other instance. Elder Evans from my mtc room is doing the same thing. Anyways President sent us out to the Eastern part of Honduras to open an area called Bella Vista B.

Opening an area is when it is a brand new area. I didnt know anyone here when we got here. We share a ward with 2 other Elders and they had found us a house in our side of the ward so at least we had a house. But other than that I didnt know anyone. Niether did my 2 companions fresh out of the MTC haha. It has been quite the weekend. It has been really fun though. We already know a ton of members and have meals and stuff. The place had had missionaries before so there are members. Now we are just the ones coming back into the area.

Elder Lopez is from Mexico. My 2nd mexican comp. He is a cool guy. He is really excited to work and I can tell that he is going to be a good missionary. He already is actually. Elder Flamenco is from Honduras San Pedro Sula. He is waiting on his visa so that he can go to Mexico to serve his mission. I expect him to be here at least 2 or 3 months for how long the visas take, so I am his trainer. It has been really cool being with them. Here when someone is training the missionaries call the trainers the dads and the new guys the kids. I had twins! But the funny part is they are like little kids. They are innocent and fun. They havent been exposed to all of the difficulties of the mission yet so they are helping me to be more excited about the work. It feels good after the 3 months I had with Elder Sotelo.

Lastly you should know that I am very happy. This new situation isnt the easiest, and will get tougher possibly. But that is ok. We already have investigators that want to get baptized so now we just need to get them to church and teach them to start off hot in this new area. We will be going to the Temple tomorrow and on friday with them. I am so stoked. I love you all family. Thank you for all of the support that you give me.

Bye Bye 30 de Julio

Feb. 4, 2013

Ah this week has been crazy. It was my last week in the 30 of julio. My last week with Elder Sotelo. And my last chance to baptize here. I will telll you how it went.

The first investigator is named Alicia. She is our next door neighbor and we started talking to her while she was washing clothes next door because its right by our pila. She was looking for the true church and she found it. She progressed quickly and agreed to be baptized last friday. She had a problem though from her past and had to talk to President before getting baptized. But he was out of town and we couldnt get ahold of him because my comp used all of our phone minutes making calls to people he doesnt need to talk to. It was ok though. I prayed that we would figure something out this weekend.

The other investigator. Victoria. I started working with her about 4 or 5 months ago. She lived with Jose Luis, a less active member. They were not married. at first they didnt progress, so I left them when Elder Ruiz left. At christmas time I went back to see how they were doing and this time they wanted to progress. They came to church and agreed to get married. So their date was the wedding on saturday and her baptism on sunday morning before church. So we got that all ready for them.

When friday came Alicia still hadnt talked to president so she wasnt baptized. There was still hope for sunday with Victoria though. So we got to the wedding on Saturday night and Elder Clay ( one of the APs that is in my ward) showed up and told me that president could talk to alicia. So she was going to be ok. We just had to marry Victoria so she would be alright. The wedding went really well though. So everything was ready for Sunday morning.

They both were baptized on Sunday. It was beatiful. Do you remember how I told you that it is supposedly harder to baptize in the city than in the south. And then I told you I dont care what other missionaries say and I was going to do my best anyways. With those 2 baptisms, I had more here in la 30 than in Guapinol. I feel very good about that.

This wednesday is the change. I am going to miss these people. Im going to miss them bad. But I am ready to go work in a new area and ready for a new companion. I will find out tomorrow night! Another crazy thing is that I didnt even think about the super bowl yesterday until I got home and was laying in my hamock. I forgot about it with all of the crazy stuff going on. It all worked out for me. Also another crazy thing is that I finished the Bible today. The whole thing. And thats it. Wish me luck with the changes. The temple open house starts on friday for the public so I should be able togo soon! I love you all.

Remember to be Thankful for Hot Showers

Jan. 28, 2013

This past week was another really good week. We had another baptism on saturday. Her name is Alejandra. She is 15 and she is so awesome. A few weeks ago she just showed up at church because a member invited her. That week she went to Mutual, New beginings for yw, and our baptism. She quickly began to love the church. She was pretty shy at first. She wouldnt say yes or no when we asked her to be baptized. But that lesson she said the closing prayer. And she said the most powerful prayer, asking for help with her family, asking for guidence, and asking for her mom to understand that she wants to get baptized. So that said it all. It was a very spiritual lesson. After that we talked to her mom (who we are going to teach next) and she gave her permission. It was a really good baptism on saturday. That was easily the best part of the past week.

Other than that it was a pretty normal week. I did divisions on friday. I actually have been leaving my area once a week this past change to try to help out with my district. I went to an area called the 28 de marzo this week and that was great. The best part was easily thier hot shower. I took one at night and in the morning. You do not understand how amazing hot showers are until you have to live without them for so long. Then you appreciate them.

This next week should be great finishing up in the 30 de julio. Changes are on feb 6. So this will be my last saturday, (chance to baptize) in this area. We will take advantage of it. I love you all so much. Have a great week.

Ah, Ya... 9 Lettters This Week!!!

Jan. 21, 2013

This last week begun with interviews with president Hernandez. We have them every 3 weeks or so. I was very happy to have interviews. I was planning on complaining a little about my companion and asking him for advice. But It didnt quite go like that. He started by asking me my goals for the next year and I shared them with him. We talked a little about that. After that we talked a little about christlike attributes and such. Instead of asking me about the problems ive had with my companion he just told me he knew it has been a trial, but that I have done a really good job with it. At that point I felt like I didnt need to ask him for help If he already thinks Im doing a good job. So I didnt complain or cry or anything. He did promise me that I would be getting changed to a new area in 2 weeks though. The changes are the 5th or 6th of Febuary.

Yesterday I had a pleasant suprise in church. During sacrament meeting Elder Jensen walked in. My good friend from the first of the mission. His companion was invited to a dinner at presidents house for missionaries who will be ending the mission next month, so they got on a bus really early (they are about 2 hours away from teguc) and came to my ward since that is where the APs are. We then got to eat lunch together after. It was really cool because I hadnt seen the guy in a very long time. Another cool thingthat happened this week was that I got 9 letters. I think its a record for me. Including from dad and madee and daves fam and jill. plus 5 other friends. It was really cool. It was friday when I got the letters and I was in divisions with Elder Reyes. We had a relaxed night tossing my lighted football from Grandma and Granpa and talking about life. He is a cool guy. He will be at BYU idaho after. Of my 8 transfers in the mission we have been in the same zone for 6.

The best part of the week though was the baptism on saturday. Delsi got baptized at the last second. We had planned her baptism for saturday, but on wednesday she said that she was moving and couldnt be baptized. That was disapointing. But on friday she told us that she would be here awhile longer and wanted to get baptized. So we baptized her. If she does move I will talk to the elders where she is gonning to live so they will take care of her. Her testimony was cool though becase she talked about how this new years eve was the first one in a long time that she didnt drink. She used to love drinking over the holidays, but she said this year it wasnt even a temptation. I was proud of her.

I love you Family!

We Can All Do Better

Jan 14, 2013

Well today we get to start off with the story of Pedro. I told you that I baptized someone named janet back in october. Well Pedro is her brother. He has been going to church with her since September. He is a very busy guy. He works on Saturday nights untill 2 or 3 in the morning and still can make his way to church usually. But he had some problems with thinking about baptism. He was ready to be baptised back in Oct with his sister. But he didnt for a few reasons. ( stuff that he had held in for months without telling me why he didnt want to be baptised.) He drank coffee to stay up at work. He was confused about what we do in temples. He wasnt sure exactly who Joseph Smith was. So although he had been to church many times and knew the church was right he hadnt been baptized.

Well the week after new years we taught him better about temples. We watched the whole joseph smith movie with him and his family to help them understand more about who he was. And on saturday the 5th we challenged him to be baptised for saturday the 12th. He said he wasnt sure. We challenged him to pray. When we went to visit him on tuesday in this week I asked him if he had prayed. Instead of saying yes or no he just told me that he was getting baptized this saturday. He got his answer. He ended up getting baptized on sunday morning before church because he had to work on saturday. It was really cool working with him. He is 17. Im gonna tell him to prepare for a mission. Hopefuly I will get to see him next year again when his sister janet goes to the temple to be sealed.

Ive been studing the general conference talks from october. This week I read elder Ballards talk. He talked about being anxiously engaged in a good cause. Or the Bee talk. He made the point that there is something that every member of the church can do to make their lives better and help others in thier lives. From primary children to deacons to young women to missionaries to parents to bishops. If we sincerely ask for a chance to serve someone else in our prayers every morning, and we look with faith throught the day, the lord will provide for us an opprotunity to serve. It something Ive been doing this week. Its hard for me to notice with all of the wonderful chances that I have to serve daily as a missionary. But I urge you all to do what Elder Ballard taught. Read the talk. You can make a difference. Just like the honey bee that hardly makes anything. We are all working in the same cause here. Just in different countries. I love you all.

Back 9!

Jan. 7, 2013

I will start this email with new years eve. My companion was talking to our neighbor for a really long time, so I had to stay up and keep an eye on him. I was glad I stayed up until 12 though because it was really cool. Everyone here is obsessed with fireworks on new years eve, so the whole city of Teguc started blowing everything up at 12. I had fireworks exploding over my head, as well as from my back deck I could see like 10 firework shows from all over teguc. It was quite the show. Unlike anything that I have ever seen. And as I sat there watching the show, eating the gummy bears that you sent me, and pondering 2012. And I realized I was a missionary the whole year. And I felt really really good about it.

Also from new years I got a cool present. We did a gift exchange with a family that we know and jeny, the lady I baptized in november got my name. So she gave me a cool new bag for my scriptures. It isnt my favorite bag design or anything, but the fact that she gifted it to me was special. I always use it now. Elder Reyes also gave me a cool Miami Heat jersey that he found here. It was free for him and it is a legit nba jersey. He just doesnt like the heat so he gave it too me. It was a good gift.

Jan 4th. 2013. I woke up. I realized Ive been a missionary for a year. I gave thanks to God for the year he gave me and the year I still have. I studied. We went to a zone conference. And after the zone conference we did exactly what you did. We went to chilis to celebrate. And you better believe that we ate salsa ranch. I went with Elder Dockendorf as we joyfuly shared our year mark together. A bunch of other missionaries from the zone went as well. It was a good day. I actually didnt even spend the afternoon in my area, cuz I had to do a baptismal interview. So I was with Elder Thompson in his area. Anyways it was a good day.

Im officially playing the back 9 of the mission. I feel the exact same as the last week. Im just gonna keep moving along here. Thank you for your loving support from the last year. We got one more to go!

The Converts are Growing

Dec. 31, 2012

Well its been about a week since christmas. That was a really good day talking to you all. It feels like it was yesterday. For that reason I dont feel like I have too much to write. Ill share a little though.

On saturday we had a white christmas with the baptism of Diana. She her grandmother and cousins are members so I feel like she should stay active in the church. The coolest part about being in an area for a long time is getting to see the converts grow. I love seeing them in church and they are just as important to me as new investigators.

You shouldnt have sent me that rubix cube. It is a litte addicting. Elder Thomson taught me how to do it on divisions the other night and now I love it. I promise not to wast too much time on it though haha.

I really dont have much to say. I love you. Enjoy next week with school off. Stay good.

Tomorrow is Christmas!!!!

Dec. 24, 2012

Family! It is Christmas eve! How exciting is that! Today has been an amazing pday. We started off with some christmas caroling in downtown Tegucigalpa. That was a good time. There is a picture of it with all of the pictures that I sent. I hope that you can enjoy them with the family at grandmas house tonight. Wow I cant believe it has already been a year since that night last year. It is an unforgatable tradition and im sorry that I wont be able to be there. But at least you will have some cool christmas pictures of me there! one of them is with elder Gonzalez from our stake. He is from the spanish branch and ivbe seen him a few times in the mission but he just got transfered to an area right next to mine so I will be seening him more now.

After christmas carroling we went to the stake presidents house and watched the RM. now that movie makes me not want to go home ever.... im just kidding. But he did have a pretty rough life. But it was a really good day. And I was afraid that I wasnt going to be able to email because all of the internet places were closed. But we found a nice shady place in an elders area and we are here. It is in like this far off neighborhood in the mountains but it has nice computers and nice people and they are open, so im happy.

This week was a really good one. I will be finishing El Libro de Mormon in spanish tonight and reading the 4 gospels in english. I had incredible study in this month. The month of December hasnt been the easiest, but I have truly loved it. I was talking with Elder Dockendorf today and he was like dude we almost have a year, and I couldnt belive him but he is right. It is getting closer to the big day. Im just excited for the big day tomorrow though. It is going to be such an amazing christmas since I will get to see you all. I cant wait, but I must wait. I will go to all of the dinner appointments that we have tonight and get fat to distract myself from what is going on tomorrow haha. I hope you all have some good questions for me!

Well merry merry Christmas. I truly love each and every one of you that are reading this letter. The truth is that our Savior loves you much more than I do. He came here and literaly sacrificed himself for each and every one of us. The love that I cant comprehend. With all the study ive done I still am unable to understand that sacrifice, but I know why he did it. Because you are all very important to him. Just as you are to me. And as much as I would love to be with you all tonight and tomorrow, I know in my heart that im as happy as I could possibly be here. Because Im doing what Christ asked me to. This month has been amazing. Tomorrow will be as well. I love you all so much.

¡Nos vemos maƱana!
