Changes

Beloved Family,

Well the changes happened. I am currently in a stake center in downtown Tegucigalpa. Yeah it was a big change. My new area is called 30 de Julio. It is a ward in la estaca Esperanza. My zone is right here by the mission office and presidents house and everything. We have every fast food resturant you can think of outside of this chapel. So there it is. Guapinol is over. I would be sad about it but the thing is I am too busy in my new area to think about it. My new companion is Elder Ruiz and he is from Guatemala. He is pretty new, only has 3 months or so in the mission.  I like him alot though. We should do some good things here in la 30.

I also got a new calling in the mission. Im a District Leader now. My district is a little wierd too. I have the AP´s in my district, as well as the ZL´s and another area. So its a cool district. I taught my first district meeting this past thursday. I also did my first baptismal Interview on Friday. That was a very cool experience as well. District leader isnt anything too different. I just have to call my district everynight and see what they did in the day. I have to teach a class every thursday. And I have to do baptismal interviews for the Elders in my district. I also have to do all of the normal stuff in my area. It should make me more busy, which should make the time go by even faster.

My area is nice though. We had church in a ward this Sunday. It was nice to not have to talk, and bless sacrament, and teach classes all sunday. I just attended church. Then in the afternoon I was actually able to work. Ive met some really cool families that have more than 20 years in the church so they are solid. Its a different place than Guapinol. One of them is a painter and he showed me some of his stuff. I ask him to paint me something because it was really cool. And we are focusing on the Temple with everyone. With member visits, with less actives, with investigators. We are getting them excited about the Temple because at the end of this year or the first of the next year it will be here! They still dont have a date yet but that should be comming soon. and now that Im in the city I can focus more about it. It really is exciting for these people. Well its exciting for me as well.

ONLY IN SPANISH

Crazy week.
I really did only speak spanish all week and it was very difficult and I will tell you why. Normally I only see Elder Meyer on Mondays and Thursdays, so those are about the only days I have chances to speak English. But this past week we were together for at least a few min every single day. Plus many other white guys that speak english. It made it pretty tough. Its because Wednesday we had to practice a song for a zone conference we had on Thursday. And then on Friday I had to go to Teguc with Meyer to get papers started for our residence. And that made it so we were together on Saturday. It would have been a very fun time speaking English with him but speaking spanish with him just isnt the same. So it was tough.
The good thing is that I made it. And from there we got another blessing of a dinner with president Hernandez and his wife last night. So we went to Teguc again yesterday but this time with the whole zone from the good job we did back in July as a zone. It was a very good time. We ate steak and chicken that we grilled at presidents house. Yeah his house isnt quite like Guapinol. We had a good time with them. He made a few jokes about how long Ive been in Guapinol but I figure that he will take me out from what he said. We will just have to find out tomorrow! But we also had a good time last night after the dinner. President showed us a slideshow of his pictures from his life, his wifes life, and the lives of his 2 sons and daughter. It was cool to get to know his family a little better. His 2 sons served missions in Salt lake and here in Teguc Honduras (because they are origanly from El Salvador). And his daughter is actually my age and at BYU Idaho. I really like our mission prez. It was good to spend time with him.
So yeah I might just be about finished in Guapinol this week. Tomorrow could be the last day. It has definatly snuck up on me with all the conferences and trips to Teguc and everything. But you already know how I feel about it so Im just gonna stop talking about it and see what happens.
Plus I have a cool story. So Lexie Gatherum has been writting me since Ieft and about a month ago she went on a cruise to Mexico. She saw a waiter that was from Honduras and talked to him and said she had a friend In Honduras. The continued to talk every now and then throughout the cruise and on the last day he left her his number and said to have me give him a call. So she sent me his number and on Tuesday of this week I was finaly able to give him a call. We talked for about half and hour about his work on a cruise ship, Lexie and her family, the mission and the church. The only bad part is he is up in San Pedro Sula. I sent his name and number to the missionaries in that mission today though so hopefully they will contact him quickly. He was very interested in the church so we will see what will happen. I will have to call him in a couple of weeks again to see how he is.
Yep good times here in the mission. Difficult week only in spanish, but I did it and im proud. I love you all and hope school is going great. I hope you had a fantastic day, and we will see where im Emailing you from next week.

Back to school!

Good luck with that this week. Im sorry that your summer has come to an end. I hope you all enjoyed the little time you had off and are ready for another school year. Whits last! I cant even imagine her as a senior in high school. I will have to imagine it though since I wont ever actually see it haha. Well its all here in Honduras. I have a goal this week not to speak any english. It is actually really hard because all of the gringos like to speak english on Pday. So today has been difficult, but I havent said anything yet and the rest of the week will be alot easier. Im just trying to put in more effort out here. So what if I can teach in spanish and read and stuff. I want to be able to comminacate faster. The truth is I want to think first in spanish, and if that means forgeting english, its fine. I think it would be funny if I went home and had forgotten some stuff. But if I talk all pday in English and every other time I see gringo elders I wont get better at spanish, ill just be stuck where Ive been for about the last 2 months with the language. Anyways, next Sunday will be my next conversation in English.

 

 

The work in Guapinol is a little hard right now. We had a bunch of baptisms for this past saturday and noone got baptized. They all say they still want to but random stuff came up with all of them. Im afraid this Saturday coming up may be my last weekend in Guapinol so I need to do something to get these people in the water. The prayers this week would be apreciated.

 

My comp Castillo is doing pretty good as well. It is cool to see him come into himself as a missionary. I really try to give him a good example. It is hard to maintain a really high perfect missionary standard over a long period of time. I hope he can get good habits now starting off. He will always be my hijo en la misión. I need to have good posterty I guess it is possible that I train again sometime but it isnt a guarentee. So I am trying to do everything I can right now. Especially if this really is my last week here with him. I really dont like to think about the possiblity of changing out of Guapinol in 9 days but it pops in my mind all of the time. hopefully I can put it away and make the best of this week. I love you so much. Have a good first week of school! Enjoy it!
