No Hay Tiempo

Im sorry but this will not be that long. Today was a great pday and we have been left with very little time to write. I was thinking in sending some pictures but I wont have time for that either. It was a very very fast week. I can hardly remember what happened to be honest with you.

I got that ideas for what to write card from mom but to be honest I dont have it with me, so the ideas arent coming to my head. I will do my best to write a letter in the near future. The time is just against me here.

I completed a year of being in this country on tuesday so that was exciting. I completed a  year of living with a latin on thursday. It has been a great year. I still wouldnt mind to have a companion from the USA. The good thing is that I get along with the one im with right now so we are happy. We are working hard to keep baptizing in march.

Im gettting ready for General Conference by reading some of the best talks since 2010. I have all of the conferecne Liahonas.  I am learning a lot from those and enjoying my study. I am stoked for conference in one month. 

This letter is called, there is no time. That is reference today. Not to the mission. I was talking to Elder Oveson on the phone the other night and we are in a good spot. We still have 10 months to preach the Gospel. People tell me that its not that long. I dont care though. Im gonna love it and take advantage because there is time in the mission. I love you all so much.

Mom Payday!!!!!!!!

I got this short note from Jordan today.   All we ever want is for our children to be happy and to do what is right.  I am blessed to be a mother to a boy that is happy and doing what his Heavenly Father wants him to.


So ya I got the

package! It was perfect. Make sure you tell carrie I said thanks. I really loved that drawing. And all the candy and everything. I will for sure make some cookies this friday for district meeting. Ive been searching for cookies like that so long. Im glad you rememberd from christmas because I had completely forgotten. Thanks. Sorry I havent been writting as much. I havent been writting anyone as much to tell you the truth. I dont know if i have sent a letter since 2013 started. I am just super focused in what is going on here. I love it mom. It is making me so happy. The first month in Danli flew so fast because Ive been working so hard. I havent had time to write anything. But I promise to write you something good sooner or later. I will be sure to use the suggestions that you sent me. I love you so much mom!

Acting on Promptings

We will begin today with the story of Sofia. A few weeks ago we were walking from lunch where we eat with Hermana Dara (a member) and we said hi to some older women on the side of the street. They said hi and we kept walking, but Elder Lopez with his MTC spirt said we should talk to them. So we went back and met them. They turned out to be Dara´s mother and grandmother, Melba and Sofia. The mother was inactive because Sofia is 88 years old and needs a lot of taking care of. She was a life long catholic so she didnt want to go to our church. But we got to know her and she told us a story of about a year ago when she was in the Hospital and about to die. She said that 3 members of our church (Dara´s husband) went to give her a blessing. When she recieved the blessing she started to feel better and is completly fine now. We helped her realize that that is the priesthood and taught her that she needed to be baptized by that priesthood. She agreed.

The teaching with her was interesting. I cant say that she completly understood every thing that we taught her, but I did notice a change in her. You should have seen the look on her grandaughter Daras face when she went to church for the first time. She was so happy. We have to help her walk and go up stairs and get in the car and everything because it is tough for her but it is possible. On saturday she was baptized. It took 2 people in the baptismal font to support her and keep her down. Her grandson was one of them. It was a special baptism for that family, and the first that we have had here in Danli. So we baptized an 88 year old woman. It was really cool.

But that isnt all. Eliezer, a 19 year old young man also joined Sophia in the baptism on saturday. So we had 2! It has been a great past month here in Danli as you can tell. Yesterday we went to ward council and we explained what our plans were for our side of the ward and told them about some of our investigators. The ward secratary complimented us on the success that we have had and the job we are doing with the invesigators and with the trust of the members. I dont do anything to try to earn the praise of the members, but of course it feels good when they compliment us. It was a really good week. I´ve been a lot more focused in the work over the past month. I know that means that I´ve sent less letters and im sorry, but I just love what i´m doing so much. You should all know that. I will write as soon as I can. Thank you so much for the package from valentines day that I just got. It was perfect. PRAS for life! I love you all so much.

 This is Jordan's friend Zack.  He baptized Zach a couple of weeks before their senior year in High School started.  I love the story of Zack.  He was always friend with all the Mormon kids.  And he went to church each week with his stepmom.  Zack was a boy EVERYONE knew.  He was the star of the football team and the basketball team and the baseball team, and he was voted Homecoming King, But more than all that Zack was just a good kid.  A loyal friend, an honest hard working boy.  The picture below is of what the boys called the PRAS.  Purple Ribbon All Stars.  They started this "gang" their sophomore year and they all wore purple bandanas to school in their back pockets everyday.  They all had purple bandanas hanging on their rear view mirror in their cars.  This picture was taken at Zack's baptism.  Back then they answered to Kaden, Zack, Daniel, and Jordan.  Now days they answer to Elder Keller, Elder Hansen, Elder Lemich, and Elder Comstock.

More Missionairies

Grandma and Grandpa= Brother and Sister Jordan? that is great news. i am a little disapointed that they wont be home when I get home but a lot more excited to hear that. That will be exciting for them. I feel like Grandpa could possibly go back to euorpe like his air force days. Or maybe they stay in the states. If they are lucky they will come to the best mission in the world in Honduras Tegucigalpa!

This week we had a zone conference in Teguc. That was really good to hear from president and the Aps. They did a really good job with the conference and I had a good time that day. I was talking to Elder Araujo on the bus ride up to Teguc and he is my new freind from Brasil. He started teaching my some Portugese as well. It is a lot like spanish. It interestes me. And of course I saw Elder Oveson and Meyer at the conference. One of the difficult parts about the missoin is making tons of friends and not getting to see them very often.

 

We went to the Temple again on Friday. This time we went in the day. The Celestial room is so pretty in the day time because of the windows. The windows reflect the light to make rainbows on the floor. It was really cool.

Yesterday was stake conference. We had Elder Amado from the first quorom of the 70 in Danli. He spoke directly to me. I learned so much from his talk. I also learned that He was the mission president of President Hernandez. That was cool to learn. The Temple president also came to speak to us as well as President Hernadez and his wife. It was a great conference. The investigators liked it to. We have our first baptism for this area planned for next week and Im excited for him.

The Honduras Tegucigalpa Temple

On Tuesday I had the grand oprotunity of going to the open house of the Honduras Tegucigalpa Temple. It was truly an amazing experience. The temple is so beautiful. Im sure you have seen the pictures. Inside it is equally beautiful. The spirit is there. You know how the temple is. It is the best. It was interesting going through with investigators and all of the invites that the ward has made because they dont all understand the importance of the temple. They all love it though. Last week our ward sent 9 buses and about 500 people to the temple. I went on tuesday and on friday. They will be sending more buses in the next two weeks. I will be going with them always when we have investigators.

On Wednesday we had a training meeting for my two companions. It was for all of the Elders that had come into the mission over the past 2 months and their companions. There were about 80 missionaries there. We have been growing as you can tell. It was good to hear from president Hernandez though.

Elder Flamenco is no longer with us though. On Friday morning we got the call that he would be going to another area in our zone because someone went home a month early. So I still see him in danli, but he isnt with us anymore. It is probably better that way. We had a good 10 days together though.

Valentines day was this week. You can look back at the pictures that I sent you of all of the good stuff I got for valentines day last year in the mtc. Letters from girls, candy and junk food from family and friends. The hearts from moms students. Everything. Well this valentines day I got one card from mom... Haha dont worry im not sad or anything. I thought it was funny how different it was. I know mom sent me something in the mail too. It just hasnt gotten here yet. Im not in Tegicugalpa anymore so the mail takes a little longer. Im not that concerened with mail anymore though. I havent written a letter in a month and I have recieved a ton. Im so behind.

Well the last few days in the 30 were sad. I will always remember all of those people forever. A few days before the changes I asked the APs what my changes were going to be. They didnt want to tell me anything, but I got a little out of them. They told me I was going to be outside of Teguc and with 2 latin missionarys in a trio. I didnt believe them because It sounded like a lie. But sure enought when Elder Reyes called me with my changes he told me I would be training 2 latins and opening and area in la zona Danli. I was shocked!

So I went to the trainer meeting on Wednesday morning to see who my companions were going to be. President then anounced, "Elder Comstock, sus compañeros son Elder Lopez y Elder Flamenco." I went and hugged them and we sat back down. Everyone was a little suprised because it is not very common that someone trains 2 people at once, and opening a new area.. I had only heard of 1 other instance. Elder Evans from my mtc room is doing the same thing. Anyways President sent us out to the Eastern part of Honduras to open an area called Bella Vista B.

Opening an area is when it is a brand new area. I didnt know anyone here when we got here. We share a ward with 2 other Elders and they had found us a house in our side of the ward so at least we had a house. But other than that I didnt know anyone. Niether did my 2 companions fresh out of the MTC haha. It has been quite the weekend. It has been really fun though. We already know a ton of members and have meals and stuff. The place had had missionaries before so there are members. Now we are just the ones coming back into the area.

Elder Lopez is from Mexico. My 2nd mexican comp. He is a cool guy. He is really excited to work and I can tell that he is going to be a good missionary. He already is actually. Elder Flamenco is from Honduras San Pedro Sula. He is waiting on his visa so that he can go to Mexico to serve his mission. I expect him to be here at least 2 or 3 months for how long the visas take, so I am his trainer. It has been really cool being with them. Here when someone is training the missionaries call the trainers the dads and the new guys the kids. I had twins! But the funny part is they are like little kids. They are innocent and fun. They havent been exposed to all of the difficulties of the mission yet so they are helping me to be more excited about the work. It feels good after the 3 months I had with Elder Sotelo.

Lastly you should know that I am very happy. This new situation isnt the easiest, and will get tougher possibly. But that is ok. We already have investigators that want to get baptized so now we just need to get them to church and teach them to start off hot in this new area. We will be going to the Temple tomorrow and on friday with them. I am so stoked. I love you all family. Thank you for all of the support that you give me.

Bye Bye 30 de Julio

Ah this week has been crazy. It was my last week in the 30 of julio. My last week with Elder Sotelo. And my last chance to baptize here. I will telll you how it went.

The first investigator is named Alicia. She is our next door neighbor and we started talking to her while she was washing clothes next door because its right by our pila. She was looking for the true church and she found it. She progressed quickly and agreed to be baptized last friday. She had a problem though from her past and had to talk to President before getting baptized. But he was out of town and we couldnt get ahold of him because my comp used all of our phone minutes making calls to people he doesnt need to talk to. It was ok though. I prayed that we would figure something out this weekend.

The other investigator. Victoria. I started working with her about 4 or 5 months ago. She lived with Jose Luis, a less active member. They were not married. at first they didnt progress, so I left them when Elder Ruiz left. At christmas time I went back to see how they were doing and this time they wanted to progress. They came to church and agreed to get married. So their date was the wedding on saturday and her baptism on sunday morning before church. So we got that all ready for them.

When friday came Alicia still hadnt talked to president so she wasnt baptized. There was still hope for sunday with Victoria though. So we got to the wedding on Saturday night and Elder Clay ( one of the APs that is in my ward) showed up and told me that president could talk to alicia. So she was going to be ok. We just had to marry Victoria so she would be alright. The wedding went really well though. So everything was ready for Sunday morning.

They both were baptized on Sunday. It was beatiful. Do you remember how I told you that it is supposedly harder to baptize in the city than in the south. And then I told you I dont care what other missionaries say and I was going to do my best anyways. With those 2 baptisms, I had more here in la 30 than in Guapinol. I feel very good about that.

This wednesday is the change. I am going to miss these people. Im going to miss them bad. But I am ready to go work in a new area and ready for a new companion. I will find out tomorrow night! Another crazy thing is that I didnt even think about the super bowl yesterday until I got home and was laying in my hamock. I forgot about it with all of the crazy stuff going on. It all worked out for me. Also another crazy thing is that I finished the Bible today. The whole thing. And thats it. Wish me luck with the changes. The temple open house starts on friday for the public so I should be able togo soon! I love you all.
